Spent two weeks in Hawaii in July, hiking on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island. Fabulous scenery and weather, except for a rainy day on the Road to Hana on Maui.
Unfortunately, the volcanic activity at Kīlauea prevented me from getting the photos of magma I was hoping for, and clouds and "laze" hindered night shots of the Milky Way. Nonetheless, a fantastic trip!
Lighting is a challenge along the coast, with bright sky and dark beaches and lava, and there are many opportunities to take long exposure shots of waterfalls. I made extensive use of the Lee 100 mm system to couple various combinations of Singh-Ray graduated neutral density filters, Lee Big and Little Stoppers and the Lee Landscape Polarizer.
Below are some examples. Added a few shots to my Instagram site and several to my portfolio. Enjoy!
